TORRENT TIPS

Torrents has revolutionized p2p file sharing. Internet without torrents would have been really dull. So here are some tips to make your experience with torrents more fruitful.

1) Never try any optimizing techniques given on the web, like tweaking the settings in torrent client, i have tested many of them and found out that they were of no use, instead they degraded my utorrent performance. i am not saying that all of them are completely useless but some tweaks that have worked for a handful may not work correctly with everybody.

2) Choose torrents wisely from the sites which you are familiar with and confirm whether they are safe. according to me the best sites for torrents are "pirate bay" and "isohunt".

3)Always see the comments given by the earlier downloaders to check the authenticity of the torrent. you may ignore 2-3 bad comments out of many, as many times the file doesn't work due to the downloader's own mistakes.

4)Never change the upload speed in your torrent client if  your ISP is providing you with unlimited upload bandwidth, lowering it may lower your download speed also.

5) If you are downloading many files simultaneously but you think the client should give more preference to one particular file. Just right click on it and set the 'bandwidth allocation' to "high".

6) Avoid using "update tracker" option. Use it only when you think there is really need of it.

7) Use torrent only if you have higher Internet connection than 512kbps because for a 512kbps Internet connection torrent gives a downloading speed of 30-35 kbps while normal downloading from sites like rapidshare will give you speed of 40-50kbps. So first try to find files on file sharing sites like Rapidshare if you don't find the files there you are free to download from torrent.

Personal Note:- This my is my personal advice and some reader may disagree with some points, they are most welcome to present their thoughts.
